When Simon could stand though no longer walk, he fell daily. His body was covered in bruises that wrapped around him like tattoos. After 3 days of cycling and falls, I wish he were here to compare bruises. Actually, I just wish he were here.
Today was tough, long and emotional. Everyone who's done it says the worst of the trip. Hope so.
Today‘s lessons:
The bloke who wrote the routes book is a sadist.
People who follows his routes are masochists.
F*** the route should be said more often.
Don‘t compete with e-bikes on steep hills.
Ferries tend to operate at sea level, so have a good laugh on the crossing as you won’t be when you have to climb back up the hairpin hills on the other side.
Falling onto previously bruised body parts is more painful.
Smarties help.
Crying does not improve your cycling.
Looking backwards can be better than at what’s to come.
Thank you and goodbye Cornwall.
Good night.
