We are cycling for two organisations who care passionately about the terminally ill:

Macmillan Midhurst Palliative Care

and
Dignity in Dying.

Macmillan Midhurst  supports patients needing palliative or end of life care, whatever the illness. They strive to give the terminally ill a good quality of life in their preferred place of care, until the end. Their support is emotional and practical and they work hard to make patients and their loved ones feel they are always there for you, however long you need.

Macmillan is a household name, loved and supported by many. However, at the local level - where the money is needed most - they struggle for funding. Which is why we are fundraising for the doctors, nurses, counsellors, and all the staff and volunteers working out of Midhurst, who care for the terminally ill with such diligence.

Please help us support Macmillan Midhurst's essential palliative and end of life care.

Dignity in Dying is a not-for-profit campaigning organisation. They are seeking to change the laws on assisted dying for terminally ill, mentally competent patients. We all hope for a peaceful, pain free death for those we love but even with the best palliative care, it is not always possible.

Simon was one of the 10% who remained conscious, distressed and in pain till the end. After his death, a nurse came round and apologised: they couldn't risk giving him more medication, in case they overprescribed.

Medics should not be hamstrung for fear of prosecution. And no one should have to die like this.

Join us in our support for Dignity in Dying and their campaigning for end of life care that respects the needs and wishes of our loved ones. One day it will be you.

Thank you all for your support

What's with the pig?

Simon loved pigs and Puppet Pig, a furry glove puppet, was a particular friend. I hid him in unexpected places - drawers, Simon's satchel, under pillows - for the joy of hearing Simon say Eeeeee, Puppet Pig, what are you doing here?

Leaving Puppet Pig at home was not an option.
