For those of you who don’t know, Suzanne, Susanna and Richard were able to start a day earlier than Christine and I so we are chasing them to Gloucester where we all meet up on the Monday 6th June.
Leaving Goldsithney this morning we had a fanfare departure from Tom and Julia. Again what a beautiful day, with the stunning scenery helping us to forget about any upcoming ‘friends’. For those who have not read about each of us, I seemed to have coined this phrase “the hills are your friends”.
I’m so glad we trained with many friends, it certainly helped today, although we met with a VERY good friend at the end of today.
Rather nice to get off the roads today and for a few miles and follow part of the National Cycle Network (NCN) through woodland. It also provided great shade from the sun.
Christine and do always try and find an excellent place for sustenance (ie coffee and cake). First place we tried today (a public house) was unfortunately closed for some celebrations today, not too sure that they served coffee but we were prepared to give it a try! However a beautiful garden centre a little further up the road had a wonderful teepee café serving Guinness cake – best of both worlds.
I must add today that Christine had her first ‘feet stuck in cleats’ fall today! Well, fortunately not too much of a fall, just leaning up against a lane hedge, though stinging nettles were present! Other than that a fairly unadventurous day – we were amused at being told to slow down though by inconsiderate drivers! I hasten to add that they were going too fast up the hill and to be fair probably we were both in the wrong 😑
