Today was supposed to be easy peasy, arrive mid-afternoon, take pics of The Signpost, cycle a few miles to Penzance, then call it a day. And it was all going swimmingly. Teal and turquoise sea, spirits high, and scenery to match.

Today’s lessons:

  1. Take your feet out of cleats in time so you don’t fall off bike.

  2. When you fall off bike, try to avoid chucking yourself into oncoming traffic.

  3. When reaching for Ventolin, don’t throw phone and credit card under passing car.

  4. If a tractor passes you with inches to spare, remember it's probably be towing machinery even wider and not to move out from hedge too soon.

Hello Cornwall.

Goodnight!

You’re in Cornwall the roads are so narrow your only choices when falling from your bike are a stone wall (hidden in cowslips) or oncoming traffic - I think you made the right choice

What's with the pig?

Simon loved pigs and Puppet Pig, a furry glove puppet, was a particular friend. I hid him in unexpected places - drawers, Simon's satchel, under pillows - for the joy of hearing Simon say Eeeeee, Puppet Pig, what are you doing here?

Leaving Puppet Pig at home was not an option.
